    Nuclear Waste Sites

I stand firmly against my opponent's plan to make Arizona 'very rich' by making us the world's nuclear waste dump.

Immigration, SB 1070 and the 'boycott' of Arizona

The border is a huge problem. The federal government must institute a true, workable guest worker program and ensure employer sanction laws have teeth.   Although, in my opinion, SB 1070 is the wrong prescription for the problem, I completely understand the frustration with the federal government's inaction.

As I have stated, repeatedly and from the very beginning, I do NOT agree with the boycott of Arizona. It is, once again, the wrong prescription to the border problem and it hurts all Arizonans in the process.

    Southern Arizona's Economic Future

There have been numerous articles and comments recently about the revitalization of our economy.  I have been a supporter of solar and public/private partnerships with our universities for years.

    I encourage everyone to visit
www.SonoranInstitute.org to read their recent report Tucson's New Prosperity: Capitalizing on the Sun Corridor.

Proposition 100 (proposition to support public education funding)

By supporting Prop. 100 Arizonans showed that they care about public education and community.

However, we must never forget that we had to have this vote because the far right legislative majority refused to do have an open and honest debate about how to truly balance the budget. Many of them have either signed or claimed to have signed the Grover Norquist 'no tax' pledge. Thus, if they had raised this tax themselves they would have angered their Far-Right base so they passed on the work to the voters.

Prop 100 is simply a tourniquet to stop the bleeding of funding public schools. But we must stop the bleeding until we can change the make-up of the legislature and begin the process of fully-funding our public schools.
